BUNNY MINI
SESSION GUIDE
Congrats on snapping up a Bunny Mini session!
This handy dandy session guide will tell you everything you need to know about how to best prepare for your session, ensuring that both you and your little one/s have a great time.
My studio is located at my property at 626 Springs Road, Prebbleton (Entrance off Trents road). With the big hedge on the corner.
There is plenty of parking on the property. Park on up and come on into the studio at the start of your session time. The studio is located up the back of the garage.
Please do not arrive into the studio early as it can distract other children during their session time.
You are more than welcome to take photos of your kiddies in the dressing area, and also behind-the-scenes shots during the photoshoot as long as you are mindful not to get in our way while we are shooting. And if your wee one seems a bit distracted/overwhelmed it’s best to put the phones away so there’s just one camera they have to focus on. Maddy may also take some behind the scenes videos for instagram - if you have an iPhone she can airdrop them to you before you leave if you remind her.
Feel free to tag us on Instagram so we can share your experience!
If you need to contact me at any point, you can do so via email at cassandra@hazelandcass.co.nz
Letter from Beatrix
We have your easter presents sorted, we have some little letters from Beatrix Potter inviting your little one to meet her rabbit friends. You can either download and print yourself, or we have some copies printed that you can come to pick up this Friday afternoon 2-3pm.
Just email us to let us know if you would like one.
otherwise, you can download your own copy below.
WHAT TO EXPECT
At the start of your session time, one of us will guide your through our wardrobe options and help your choose the perfect outfit for your little one/s. You will then be taken over to the set itself where we will pose them are start taking photos.
Your session will run for 20 minutes for individuals, and for 40 minutes for the larger sibling sessions. This session time includes getting dressed and the photoshoot itself, so please do not come into the studio early. You will be able to get your kid/s dressed back into their clothes afterwards, while the next person is dressed and getting ready for their session.
Please also try not to be late, as I cannot give you extra time to make up for the time you missed.
We have wardrobe options for boys and girls between 3 months-8 years. If your child is older than this, please bring them dressed just incase we don’t have anything that fits. We have a few pairs of shoes on hand, but with older kids just bring them in in any nice brown shoes/boots.
Let me know if there are any funny words, faces or favourite songs that they like, as it’s ideal if me or my assistant Maddy can get their attention if they like us. Otherwise, be prepared to get right behind my head/camera so that they’re looking in the right direction with light on their face.
iI your child is confident to enter the set on their own, ideally keep out of the shooting area as I often run side to side and backward quickly and bump into people.
If your child needs you close by for support, we will direct you of where you can sit for each shot. For babies we will put you in charge of ‘spotting’ them close for safety. because of this, shots with babies will all be closer up. The old time we can get a full set shot with babies is if they can stand up on their own or against the chair.
If your little one is too rough with or afraid of the bunny, we will have to do the photos without the bunny in it. If you think this might be your little one, maybe bring along a bunny toy if they have one to have in place of the real bunny.
HOW TO PREPARE
For toddlers aged between 1-2 years old (or particularly shy/stubborn 2-3 year olds) we strongly recommend bringing them already dressed in their own outfit for best results.
If you are in doubt, always bring them dressed nicely just in case. We can try dress them if you think they are up for it, but sometimes it’s not worth it if they end up spending their entire session time being upset about it and we are not able to get any photos.
Remember to still bring your child along photo-ready as we don’t have time to style hair, wipe faces and remove bandages before you leave the house - we can easily photoshop out bruises and sores, but not bandages.
For older girls, putting a light curl through their hair can be really beautiful, and makes them feel extra special for their wee photoshoot.
For babies and younger children in the afternoon, ideally, give a nap before their session so that we can get them in the best possible mood. Though don’t worry if you can’t get them down – just continue to have a quiet, relaxing day for best results.
With little ones try practice ‘gentle’ patting with soft toys or animals.
