Thank you so much for choosing me to be your babies photographer! I consider myself truly lucky to be around these little munchkins all the time.
This handy dandy session guide will tell your everything you need to know about how to best prepare for your session, ensuring that both you and your baby have a great time. If you haven’t already, please also read through the Cherub information for clarification on what’s included in with your session. If you didn’t order any products while booking and think you may change your mind during the session, just let me or my assistant know and we can add them on.
My studio is located in the top right unit of 162 Kendal Avenue, Burnside. There should be parking on the street outside and a sign on our door – no need to knock, just come on in up the stairs!
Please don’t park out the back on weekdays – there should be space on the street.
While you are more than welcome to snap photos before/after, please refrain from taking any on your phone during the shoot itself. My assistant Maddy takes videos of a few of the babies for our instagram story @hazelandcass which you can check out after the session.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Your session will run for around 10 minutes, and I cannot go far over this as the sessions are scheduled back to back, so please try your best to be on time.
Maddy (my assistant) will greet you on arrival and give you your number, which you will need to pass on to me when it’s time. She will also walk you through our selection of little dresses, knitted rompers and headbands and help you decide what looks best.
Make sure that you arrive 5-10 minutes before your session to get your baby dressed (or undressed!) and ready to go as soon as I call you in to the shooting area.
If there is anything special you would like them to wear, simply bring them to the session dressed in that outfit.
During the session itself, please leave any extra clothes, nappy bags etc. in the dressing area – all you’ll need is your little cherub and your number. Let us know if there are any funny words, faces or favourite songs that they like.
If your baby is confident with strangers, I find it is best if mum/dad can stand back and relax. This way I can easily get your babies full attention so that they're looking and smiling directly into the camera, as opposed to off the side at you.
Ideally get your baby to have a nap before their session so that we can get them in the best possible mood. Don’t worry if they don’t go down, it won’t be the end of the world.
AFTER THE SESSION
A week or two after your session, you’ll receive your digital image/s via email.
You can then let us know which one/s you would like printed/framed (or order them if you haven’t already) in reply to this email.
We will email you another 2-3 weeks later when everything’s ready, then you can pick them up from the studio at a time that suits.
From the careful design and printing, to the custom build, this whole process is handled in-house by me and my husband/framer, Mike.
We have a hand-picked selection of the worlds most beautiful designs, which you can view online here and in the studio. To finish, our frames with TruVue’s patented UltraVue; an archival, UV protected, museum grade glass designed to protect your fine art print for generations to come.
These are available to order at any time, so if you didn’t order one on booking, don’t be afraid to let us know during your session or over email. Keep in mind that there is usually a 2-3 week wait for our frames, longer during the Christmas period.
