Thank you so much for choosing me for the amazing job of photographing your baby. I consider myself truly lucky to be around these little munchkins all the time.
This handy dandy session guide will tell your everything you need to know about how to best prepare for your session, ensuring that both you and your baby have a great time. If you haven’t already, please also read through the Cherub information for clarification on what’s included in with your session. If you didn’t order any products while booking and think you may change your mind during the session, just let me or my assistant know and we can add them on.
My studio is located in the top right unit of 162 Kendal Avenue, Burnside. There should be parking on the street outside and a sign on our door – no need to knock, just come on in up the stairs!
On weekdays, please don’t park out the back – there should be parking on the street.
Please refrain from taking any photos or videos on your phone during the session. I understand how hard it is to resist snapping a picture of everything when you’ve got a new baby, but now for couple hours you can just sit back and relax – we’ve got the photos covered.
My assistant Maddy will likely be taking videos throughout for our instagram story @hazelandcass that you can check out during and after the session. We will also put up a fully edited ‘sneak peek’ from your session on our Facebook page that evening or the following day. This will help tide you over until your full gallery is ready to view!
What to expect
Your session will run for around 10 minutes, and I cannot go far over this as the sessions are scheduled back to back, so please try your best to be on time.
Maddy (my assistant) will greet you on arrival and give you your number, which you will need to bring with you into the studio for your session.
She will then show you to a dressing room with all the available outfits. This is where you can get ready and store your bags, so make sure that you arrive 5-10 minutes before your session to get your baby dressed (or undressed!) and ready to go as soon as I call you in to the studio.
I provide a selection of dresses and rompers for the babies, but if there is anything special you would like them to wear, simply bring them to the session dressed in that outfit.
During the session itself, please leave any extra clothes, nappy bags etc. in the dressing room – all you’ll need is your little cherub, your number and your phone if you want to take any videos. Let us know if there are any funny words, faces or favourite songs that they like (and be prepared to play a bit of peek-a-boo behind the camera).
If your baby is confident with strangers, I find it is best if mum and dad sit back and relax. This way I can easily get your babies full attention so that they're looking and smiling directly into the camera, as opposed to off the side at you.
Ideally get your baby to have a nap before their session so that we can get them in the best possible mood. Don’t worry if they don’t go down, it won’t be the end of the world.
After the session
A week or two after your session, you’ll receive your digital image/s via email. If you didn’t order any prints or frames earlier, you can do so in reply to this email.
Any prints will be ready for pick up a week or so after this.
Your frames will take around two, three or more weeks to make, depending on the size.
We will email you when everything’s ready, then you can pick them up from the studio at a time that suits.
From the careful design and printing, to the custom build, this whole process is handled in-house by me and my husband/framer, Mike.
We have a hand-picked selection of the worlds most beautiful designs, which you can view online here and in the studio during your personal viewing session.
To finish, our frames with TruVue’s patented UltraVue; an archival, UV protected, museum grade glass designed to protect your fine art print for generations to come.
